At the Institute of Geography named after acad. H.A. Aliyev of ANAS, a meeting of the Academic Council was held.
In connection with the death of the Director of the Institute of Geography, Academician Ramiz Mammadov, acting Director of the Institute, Associate Professor, PhD in physics Rustam Rustamov was appointed as the Acting Chairman of the Scientific Council of the Institute.
The meeting participants honored the memory of the academician with a minute of silence.
The meeting was chaired by Assoc. Prof. R. Rustamov. The new composition of the Scientific Council of the Institute was considered and approved.
The chairman of the meeting discussed the organization of expeditions and the submission of reports, emphasized the importance of field measurements in science and the importance of reflecting the reality of the results obtained.
The head of the personnel department Rasul Ismayilov acquainted the participants with the new structure of the Institute of Geography in accordance with the decision of the Presidium of ANAS on the new structure of scientific institutions.
An exchange of views took place on the issues of magistracy and doctoral studies. Head of the Department of Education, Ph.D. in geography Museib Yunusov spoke about the problems of the department, noting that graduate students successfully passed the summer examination session for the 2020/2021 academic year.
The issue of sending of PhD in geography E.S. Safarov to Switzerland for a period of one year (September 2021 - August 2022) was considered with a scholarship provided by Switzerland, and the decision was approved to send him to Geneva, Switzerland, with the preservation of a monthly salary.
The meeting also discussed the organization of expeditions to the Caspian Sea on the ship "Alif Hajiyev", the state of preparation of the monograph "Geography of Karabakh", as well as subscriptions to newspapers and scientific journals of the institute, etc., and appropriate decisions were made.
