Saida Marif gizi Zeynalova conducts scientific research in the field of landscape science (2-00-23). In 1998, she defended her dissertation for the degree of candidate of geographical sciences on the topic of "Indicator interpretation of arid landscapes of the southern slope of the South-Eastern Caucasus". Currently, she is working on a doctoral dissertation on the topic of "Geodynamic patterns of landscape formation on the western coast of the Caspian Sea". S.M. Zeynalova is a well-known specialist in the interpretation of arid and semi-arid complexes using the landscape-indicator method. She is the author of numerous scientific articles devoted to this problem, and has successfully spoken at scientific conferences held in our country and abroad. She has published more than 50 scientific articles in this field.

S.M. Zeynalova is one of the responsible executors of various scientific and reporting works carried out at the institute since 1996. These studies are devoted to the study of the problems of differentiation of modern landscapes, the ecological state of the territories of distribution of mud volcanoes, arid and semi-arid complexes using the method of landscape indication. Of particular importance are her studies on the study of the ecological state of modern landscapes of the Lesser Caucasus and optimization of anthropogenic impact on them, patterns of differentiation of modern landscapes of the Caspian Sea coast, north-eastern and south-eastern slopes of the Greater Caucasus, the Kura-Araks lowland, as well as the assessment of their ecological potential and ecological diversity.

The research of S.M. Zeynalova on arid landscapes of the southern slope of the South-Eastern Caucasus is of particular note. She was the first to study this territory based on the method of indicator interpretation of aerospace images and compiled large-scale (1:100,000) maps of individual sections of the region. She was the first to develop standard decoding signs for studying arid geosystems. This standard was also used to assess the ecological potential of arid geosystems of the Djeyranchol-Ajinohur lowland using decoding signs.

Her study of the ecological potential of arid landscapes in the southeastern part of the Greater Caucasus (2006) is of great interest. She studied the region's landscapes by individual components and assessed the ecological potential of the territory.

Currently, S.M. Zeynalova is working on the problem of formation and development of arid and semi-arid geosystems of the western coast of the Caspian Sea. Her scientific report "Landscape and ecological characteristics of geosystems of the western coast of the Caspian Sea" on the topic "Geographical problems of the Caspian region and ways of studying sustainable development of territories" (2014) was heard at the XVIII session of the United Academic Council of the International Associations of Academies of Sciences, dedicated to fundamental problems of geography.

S.M. Zeynalova is an active organizer of teaching and propaganda of geography. She gives lectures to students and postgraduates in various disciplines at the Faculty of Geography of BSU.
