Meeting of SNC Azerbaijan was held at the CI 2021-06-29 17:05:00 / IMPORTANT EVENTS

On June 23, the next third meeting of the National Initiative Group (SNC Azerbaijan) was held on the development and planning of regional dialogue and cooperation at the Institute of Geography named after academician H.A. Aliyev of ANAS with the participation of CI employees, members of SNC Azerbaijan - Doctors of Philosophy in Geography Natavan

Jafarova, Elnur Safarov and Rovshan Karimov, as well as national experts Ayten Poladova and Fuad Bagirov as project coordinator.

 

The main purpose of the meeting was to strengthen cooperation between the academic sector and practitioners, discuss cooperation mechanisms and joint systemic measures to solvethe existing problems for the sustainable development of the Caucasus mountain region.

 

The event was attended by representatives of scientific, non-governmental, international organizations, the private sector and executive bodies.

First of all, the participants paid tribute to the memory of the late SNC-mt chairman, academician Ramiz Mammadov, who passed away in early June, who was a valued member and supporter of the Scientific Network of the Caucasus Mountain Region (SNC-mt), and thanked him for his outstanding contribution to this cause.

 

The event focused on the activities of the National Initiative Group, risks for calculating insurance tariffs in the Caucasus and the threat of chestnut tree loss in the Caucasus, climate change and related projects in Azerbaijan, energy efficiency of buildings and the application of energy modeling, low social awareness of energy saving, etc.

The participants of the meeting - the head of the sector of the Office of the Milli Majlis Shamil Huseynov and the UN staff member Chingiz Mammadov assured the participants that they will support the implementation of the project.

 

The meeting was held within the framework of the project "Strengthening Climate Adaptation Capacities in the South Caucasus" (SCAC) funded by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC).
