Senior Researcher, Department of Demography and Population Geography, Institute of Geography named after acad. H. Aliyev of ANAS, Ph.D. Associate Professor Etibar Badalov and Junior Researcher of the Department of Medical Geography Turana Huseynova took part in the 6th International Congress of Geographers of the Islamic World.

Participants joined an online event on geography, environment and economics of Islamic countries held at Harezmi University.Badalov spoke at the congress with an article "Urbanization and demographic development in Islamic countries", written together with T. Huseynova. The article analyzes the development and formation of urban settlements in Islamic countries, the dynamics of urbanization in recent years, the demographic development of agglomerations and megacities, their location by country and region. The characteristics of the demographic development of countries and their regions are studied, including the dynamics of population growth rates, natural population growth, in particular, the processes of fertility and mortality. To implement demographic problems in Muslim countries accordance it is recommended to solve them in accordance with Islamic norms and values.
