Deputy Director for Science at the Institute of Geography, named after acad. H.A. Aliyev of ANAS, Associate Professor Maharram Hasanov took part in the meeting organized in the format of a video conference on water supply.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the Ministries of Ecology and Natural Resources, Agriculture, Emergency Situations, Energy of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Azersu and Azercosmos Open Joint Stock Companies, the Institutes of Geography, Geology and Geophysics of ANAS, as well as the Azerbaijan University of Architecture and Construction.

They discussed issues related to the restoration of reservoirs, preparation of technical and economic study and design to reduce water losses and improve land reclamation, reconstruction of hydroelectric facilities, collectors and irrigation canals, increasing water resources in the country and creating relief reservoirs for collecting mountain rivers in this direction, and relevant proposals were made.

Speaking at the meeting, Maharram Hasanov stressed that saving water is the only way to prevent the inevitable shortage and loss of water in the country. He also stressed the need to clean up existing reservoirs from silt and carefully select the location for the creation of new reservoirs.
