A scientific workshop has been held in the Institute of Geography of ANAS, chaired by its director, academician Ramiz Mammadov. The meeting was dedicated to the guest in Baku- doctor of biology A.V.Soromotin, Honoured Ecologist of the Russian Federation, director of the Research Institute of “Ecology and the efficient use of natural
resources” of the Tumen State University, which is one of the 100 most advanced universities in the world.
Introducing the guest to the participants of the meeting, R.Mammadov said that the Institute was founded in Tumen is engaged in research of geographical environment. He noted Russian scientist is invited to the workshop to talk about activities of this enterprise.
In his speech on the theme “Environmental research in the north of Siberia and the efficient use of natural resources” A.V.Soromotin noted that he had scientific ties with Baku. And now, the reason for his visit is to restore these relations and exchange of experience on the research work which is carried out at his Institute.
According to the scientist, drawing on the experience of leading European institutions and by winning a grant of $ 3 million, the enterprise managed to create a base for a rich field laboratory. They are a type of drone aircraft that can fly at the distance of 25 km and UniScan ™ 24, receiving satellite information in a radius of 2.500 km at any time of day and in any weather conditions and others. This equipment allows conducting continuous monitoring in the study area.
