Shakir Gabissanli, doctoral student at the Institute of Geography named after Acad. H.A. Aliyev of ANAS, gave an interview to Elm TV about the Azerbaijani toponyms.
He said he has been dealing with toponyms since 2013 and has published two books on the topic. According to him, many place names in Azerbaijan, even the name of our capital, were distorted over time and lost their true meaning.
Gabissanli said that the Society of Red Professors was established in Moscow in 1923. One of its functions was the falsification of the history of the Turkic peoples, the Christianization of Turkish monuments and the destruction of place names.
