Institute of Geography of ANAS named after acad. H. Aliyev concluded an agreement with the “Russian State Hydrometeorological University” in Saint Petersburg in order to promote the preparation of qualified specialists and scientific personnel and the development of scientific potential.

The main areas of cooperation are the study of natural resources and their ecogeographic features; problems of production, environmental economics, social infrastructure and economic and geographical problems of the territorial organization of the population; information systems and geotechnology.

The agreement will be implemented through the exchange of experience and researchers, joint research, workshops, conferences, the development of joint courses and programs based on the experience of both parties. It is supposed to carry out visits and exchange of teaching staff with the aim to improve qualifications.

The parties discussed the terms of cooperation and financial issues within the framework of an agreement valid for a period of 5 (five) years.

The agreement was signed by Ramiz Mahmud Mammadov - director of the Institute of Geographynamed after acad. H.Aliyev of ANAS and Valery LeonidovichMikheev – Rector of the St. Petersburg Hydrometeorological University.
