International Women's Day was celebrated on March 8 with the organization of the Trade Union and Women's Council of the Institute of Geography named after аcad. H. Aliyev MNO.

Acting Director General of the Institute, PhD, Assoc. Prof. Zaur Imrani congratulated the employees of the Institute of Geography on Women's Day, wishing them family happiness, scientific achievements and success in all their endeavors. He noted that Azerbaijani women have achieved great success in all areas. They have wonderful families and play an active role in the socio-political life of the country, make a significant contribution to the development of science and economics, and, in addition to raising worthy citizens for the Motherland, are selfless mothers and faithful wives. The head of the institution spoke about the work carried out in our country to expand the rights and opportunities of women and ensure gender equality, and also emphasized that the majority of those working in many areas of our republic are women.

The Chairperson of the Women's Council, PhD Solmaz Rzayeva, congratulated the employees of the Institute, especially the mothers of martyrs, and all women of the Republic on International Women's Day. The Chairperson of the Council noted women who actively participate in the scientific and social activities of the Institute, as well as young women scientists who have just defended their dissertations and received academic degrees, and awarded them the Honorary Diploma of the Women's Council. The awardees, in turn, expressed their gratitude and congratulated the employees of the enterprise on the holiday.

Deputy Chairperson of the primary territorial organization of the Institute Mahbuba Fatullayeva, who was awarded the Women's Council award, expressed gratitude to all the employees who took part in various events held by the Yasamal district organization of the New Azerbaijan Party, as well as in the elections to the Milli Majlis and municipal elections as observers, and congratulated them on the holiday.

The co-organizers of the event - the chairman of the institute's trade union Kamran Ramazanli, the head of the HR department Rasul Ismailov and the former chairperson of the Women's Council, research fellow Luiza Salaeva in their speeches noted that March 8 this year coincides with the holy month of Ramadan, which further enhances the festive spirit. They stated that women, who make up 66 percent of the Institute's employees, play an important role in the life of society and the family, as well as in the activities of the Institute and the development of science. At the end of the event, the employees were presented with gifts, and on behalf of the management, they were wished good health and family happiness.
