General Director of the Institute of Geography named after academician H. Aliyev of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Doctor of Geography Zakir Eminov and executive director of the institute, Ph.D. Associate Professor Zaur Imrani took part in international scientific conferences organized by a branch of the Baikal Institute of Environmental Management of the Russian Academy of Sciences and Buryat State University named after Dorji Banzarov in the cities of Ulan-Ude (Russia) and Ulaanbaatar (Mongolia).
The international scientific conference “Modern Eurasia: Socio-Geographical Analysis” was held from September 10 to 15 in Ulan-Ude, within the framework of the XIV Scientific Assembly of the Association of Geographers of Russia, and the conference held on September 15-19 in Ulaanbaatar was dedicated to the topic “Development of Geographical Science in Mongolia and Russia: the potential for interaction in the modern global and Eurasian context.”
The event was attended by more than 300 scientists from Azerbaijan, Russia, Mongolia, China, Bosnia and Herzegovina. Zakir Eminov made a report on the topic “The unity of the Turkic-speaking states of Eurasia - the basis of socio-economic development”, and Zaur Imrani made a report on “Regional economic-geographical model of sustainable development”.
During the conference, participants had the opportunity to get acquainted with the Museum of the History of Buryatia, the ethno-tourist center, Lake Baikal and its problems, the Chinggis khan Museum, and the Gorkhi-Terelj National Park in Ulaanbaatar.
