Deputy Director of the Institute of Geography named after Academician H.Aliyev of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ph.D. in Geography Zaur Imrani and junior researcher Beymkhanim Huseynova actively participated in the classes to prepare students for participation in the 19th International Geography Olympiad (iGeo).
The qualifying exam for the national team was held on May 27 at Fortis Academy, where preparatory classes were held. The winners of the senior age category of the Republican Subject Olympiads and participants of the project “Preparing schoolchildren for the International Olympiad in Geography”, which won in the framework of educational grant competitions, took part in the exam. At the trial exam, students were presented with closed and open tests, consisting of 50 questions.

The 19th International Geography Olympiad will be held this year from 8 to 15 August in Bandung, Indonesia. The team that will represent the country in iGeo under the leadership of Yashar Seyidaliyev will consist of young people aged 16-19. It should be noted that Murad Garayev, a student of Fortis Academy, won both the silver medal of the Republican Subject Olympiad and the EGeo bronze medal in 2022.
