On the occasion of January 11 - the Day of World Reserves and National Parks, Senior Researcher of the Department of Geomorphology and Natural Risks of the Institute of Geography named after acad. H.A. Aliyev of ANAS, PhD Samira Abushova was invited Public Radio.
In the program dedicated to nature reserves and wildlife sanctuary of the republic, the researcher spoke about the history of these historical monuments, assessed the current state of natural reserves and wildlife sanctuary, as well as a preliminary assessment of the state of reserves on the liberated lands of Azerbaijan.
In the interview, they discussed the creation of biosphere reserves in Azerbaijan, which have become more relevant in recent years (for example, the Zagatala-Balakan Biosphere Reserve, which is planned to be prepared in 2023). The current state of the national parks was discussed. Information was provided on the current state of the Aggol National Park, considered an "ornithological oasis" of Azerbaijan, and endangered species protected there.
