The director of the Institute of Geography, academician Ramiz Mammadov was a guest of the program “Good morning, Azerbaijan” ("Sabahin xeyir Azərbaycan").
Speaking about global warming, the academician noted the global threats that can arise on the planet at the end of the century when the temperature rises by 2.3 degrees: destruction of biodiversity, changes in vegetation, drought due to reduced rainfall, the inevitability of desertification. In particular, he spoke about the manifestations of global warming in Azerbaijan.
Stressing that climate change has led to the emergence of new viruses and mutants, the scientist also linked the problem of the emergence of a new type of Covid-19 with global warming.
