Employees of the Institute of Geography named after acad. H.Aliyev of ANAS, specialists in GIS mapping in the framework of the project of creating of the atlas of natural disasters, PhD in geography Natavan Jafarova and junior researcher Elvin Amrakhov,
participated in a regional workshop on risk assessment issues of emergency situations which took place on 21-22 September in Tbilisi, Georgian city.
The event has been organized by the Agency for Emergency Situations of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia, Water Resources Agency of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Azerbaijan, the Institute of Geography named after acad. H.Aliyev of ANAS, with the participation of representatives of relevant organizations of Ukraine, Belarus, Armenia and Moldova.
The main objective of this event was to assess the risk of emergency situations (fires, landslides, extreme weather conditions and earthquakes) by scientific and methodological way based on the advanced experience of member states of the Council of Europe and to start its practical application in the partner countries.
The participants shared the results obtained in their countries in this field, had an exchange of views and acquired new information. Young scientists of our Institute have returned with certificates.
