A delegation of teachers and students of the Faculty of Geography of the Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov visited the Institute of Geography named after acad. H. Aliyev of MSEAR. They visited the city of Sumgait accompanied by scientists of the Institute, in order to study the current state of the Azerbaijani coast of the Caspian Sea.
The guests were in the Sumgait Park of Chemical Industry and Technology with leading scientists of the Institute of Geography, Associate Professor Elina Kerimova, Scientific Secretary Saida Zeynalova, and got acquainted with the enterprises. Azerbaijani scientists provided them with information about the history of the creation of these parks, the enterprises included in them and the products they produce.
Then the guests went to the Caspian coast of Sumgait. Here they observed the current state of the Caspian coast and the consequences of the drop in sea level.
Zeynalova and E. Karimova provided the guests with detailed information about the stages of the decline and rise of the Caspian Sea level, their causes, the economic and environmental consequences of the decline in sea level, the impact of these processes on coastal infrastructure, industry and the lives of the population, as well as the measures taken by the government, and answered their numerous questions.
