Employees of the Institute of Geography named after H.Aliyev of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan participated in the Republican scientific
conference "Modern achievements and directions of development of hydrometeorology", dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the Department of Hydrometeorology of Baku State University.
The general director of the institute, Professor Zakir Eminov, spoke at the plenary session of the conference.
In his speech, the scientist spoke about climate change and problems of water resources use, as well as the great need for meteorologists and hydrologists to solve them. According to him, holding a conference on climate change in Azerbaijan this year once again proves how important it is and that the need for personnel is high. Developing the department alone is not enough; it is high time to create a separate faculty of meteorology and hydrology. The problems arising in the Caspian Sea should be added here.
In conclusion of his speech, Z. Eminov congratulated the entire family of geographers, including the department staff celebrating their anniversary, and wished them success in their work and teaching.
Head of the Department of Hydrology of Land and Water Resources, Professor Rza Mahmudov, spoke at the meeting with a report on regional climate change in Azerbaijan and the assessment of water resources of regional rivers of Karabakh using the complex water balance method.
