Article by Nijat Imamverdiyev, Researcher at the Department of Economic and Political Geography of Azerbaijan, Institute of Geography named after Academician H.A. Aliyev of ANAS, under the title "Choosing the optimal location for installing solar power plants in the Nakhichevan Autonomous Republic", MSU "Geography", published in the journal MSU "Geography".
The article states that the hierarchy analysis process (HAI) based on multi-criteria decision methods (MDM) for the installation of solar power plants in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, where the radiation level is higher (1220-1699 kW / m2), and the annual duration of sunshine is more than 2500 hours compared to other regions of Azerbaijan). As a result of the research, it was found that 9.5% (510 km2) of the total territory of the NAR have a high suitability index for hydroelectric power stations, 12% (645 km2) have an average index, 24% (1290 km2) have a poor suitability index. The remaining territories (54.5% or 2930 km2) are unsuitable for use due to low radiation, high susceptibility, protected areas, residential areas, agricultural areas and underdeveloped infrastructure. As can be seen from the polygons on the site suitability map, the most favorable locations cover mainly the southern and eastern parts of the region.
