The landslide risk has once again become critical in the Badamdar highway area of the Sabail district. Employees of the “Geomorphology and Paleogeography” laboratory of the Institute of Geography — Doctor of Geographical Sciences, Associate Professor Stara Tarikhazer, and leading researcher, PhD in Geography Jeyhun Gasimov — conducted monitoring in the area.
In recent years, several landslide incidents have occurred in this location:
According to experts, the lithological composition of the slope consists of limestone, sand, and sandy clay. In some areas, the slope gradient exceeds 60°. The main causes of the landslides include slope cutting and leakage of wastewater from outdated sewage systems of houses located on the upper part of the slope. Additionally, the intense precipitation observed in recent days — both rain and wet snow — has played a significant role in reactivating the landslide.
