Main Scientific Focus:

The research conducted at the Laboratory of Population Geography covers the development of general demographic and geodemographic processes, as well as the assessment of population settlement patterns and trends. Key research areas include natural population growth, migration, gender-age and national-ethnic composition, population density, settlement across elevation zones, labor resources and employment, household structures, living standards, and the influence of social conditions on demographic processes.

The laboratory also investigates urbanization, regional development of cities and rural settlements, population distribution patterns across elevation zones, strategic and geopolitical considerations, and regional demographic and economic-geographical planning. Studies are conducted on the dynamics of population numbers across the economic regions of the Republic of Azerbaijan, as well as the impact of territorial organization, natural-geographical, and socio-economic conditions in a comprehensive manner.
