Head of the Department of Geomorphology of the Coast and Seabed of the Caspian Sea at the Institute of Geography named after acad. H. Aliyev of the MSEAR, Doctor of Geographical Sciences, Professor Amir Aliyev gave an interview to the newspaper “Iki Sahil” about the problems of the Caspian Sea level.
According to A. Aliyev, the proposal to discharge Black Sea water into the Caspian Sea to regulate the Caspian Sea level is absurd and can lead to major environmental disasters. Since the water in the Black Sea is twice as salty as in the Caspian, this can completely destroy the flora and fauna of the Caspian. He also stated that none of these proposals have been successful: “In my opinion, we need to adapt to the rise and fall of the Caspian Sea. It is impossible to interfere with this. The level of the Caspian Sea has always risen and fallen, and this process will continue in the future.”
