Head of the department of the Institute of Geography named after Academician H. Aliyev of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Chairman of the Azerbaijan Geographical Society (AGS), PhD. Mirnukh Ismailov and researcher, member of the board of the AGS, Emil Djabrayilov, took part in the conference “The Role of Turkestan in the History of Turkic Peoples”, held in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan.
The conference was organized by the Organization of Turkic States, the Uzbek University of Journalism and Mass Communications and the Geographical Council of Turkic States. At the event, which was attended by more than 100 leading international experts and scientists, it was emphasized that such conferences serve to unite the efforts of scientists and historians of Turkic-speaking countries in preserving and popularizing the great cultural and historical heritage of the Turkic peoples.
Mirnukh Ismailov made a report on the topic “Geopolitical situation and modern problems of Turkestan in the geographical space of the Turkic world” at a round table held as part of a conference with the participation of members of the Geographical Council of Turkic States.
The round table participants discussed the preparation of a list of historical and natural monuments belonging to Turkic states and peoples, and an adapted dictionary of geographical terms, the publication of joint papers, etc.
At the end of the event, Mirnukh Ismayilov and Emil Djabrayilov gave interviews to local TV channels.
