Deputy Director for science of the Institute of Geography named after acad. H.Aliyev of ANAS, associate professor Maharram Hasanov, gave an interview to ARB TV about such natural phenomena as thunder and lightning.
He said that over the past 25 or 30 years, the intensity of natural disasters has increased as a result of climate change, both throughout the world and in Azerbaijan.
According to studies, the territories most affected by these phenomena are Dashkesan, Gadabay, Gekgel, Shamkir, Tovuz, Gakh, Gabala and other regions.
The scientist noted that to prevent such phenomena on the roof of multi-storey buildings, lightning rods are installed that divert an electric charge to the ground.
