Employees of the Institute of Geography –deputy director for science, assoc. prof. Maharram Hasanov, Chairman of the Trade Union organization-PhD in geography Habil Akhverdiyev, Samira Alekperova-chairwoman of CYSS, as well as Zaur Imrani-head of department of Tourism and recreation, visited Lyceum named after acad. Zarifa Aliyeva in Yasamal district of Baku.

Director Mehriban Veliyeva, acquainted the guests with the lyceum, told the reasons for its creation, mission, tasks and successes. According to her, the main goal is to create a bright, active, creative, competitive atmosphere, turning it into one of the best educational and scientific centers.

Noting that the school has a small academy, the director said that schoolchildren use new technologies in collaboration with academic laboratories. Maharram Hasanov spoke about the activities of the Institute of Geography, its areas of research, achievements, etc. He also added that the IG has always paid great attention to the unity of science and education.

IG employees periodically attend secondary schools in Baku, meet with pupils and teachers, and organize practical classes for them.

M.Hasanov donated the publications of the IG to the lyceum.

It was proposed to form a geo-oriented group in the lyceum, and pupils of this group should be involved in the scientific research of the institute, including field work.

The parties considered it expedient to expand the scientific and practical knowledge of pupils, to increase interest in the science of geography and to develop cooperation between the two institutions.
