Based on the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan on “Standards for Vibration and Noise Pollution that Negatively Affect the Environment and Human Health” and the warning of the World Health Organization that air pollution is one of the most serious environmental problems in Azerbaijan, scientific research has been carried out.
From June 18 to 22, Head of the Laboratory of Geographical Ecology, Associate Professor and PhD in Agricultural Sciences A. Aliyev, together with researchers F. Khalilov (PhD in Geography, Associate Professor), T. Islamzadeh (PhD in Agricultural Sciences), and engineer R. Huseynov, participated in a field expedition within the framework of the research report titled “The Eastern Part of the Southern Slope of the Greater Caucasus and Adjacent Areas (Shamakhi-Ismayilli Districts)”.
The main objective of the research was to study the ecogeographical conditions of the region, assess vibration and noise pollution, evaluate factors affecting air quality, and map environmental risks. During the expedition, field observations were conducted, data were collected using geoinformation technologies, and soil and vegetation samples were taken.
The research is currently continuing under laboratory (office-based) conditions.
