
Within the framework of the “Year of Urban Planning and Architecture,” an event titled “In the Light of Elegant Heritage” was held on the occasion of the 103rd anniversary of the birth of prominent ophthalmologist-scientist, Academician Zarifa Aliyeva. The event was jointly organized by the Yasamal District Organization of the New Azerbaijan Party, the Yasamal District Executive Authority, and the Azerbaijan State Institute for Doctors’ Advanced Training named after A. Aliyev.
Mahbuba Fatullayeva, Deputy Chairperson of the Primary Territorial Party Organization of the Institute of Geography under the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, also took part in the event.
First, the participants visited the graves of National Leader Heydar Aliyev and Academician Zarifa Aliyeva at the Alley of Honors, laid wreaths and flowers at their monuments, and honored their cherished memory with deep respect.
Speakers at the event noted that Zarifa Aliyeva’s rich and meaningful life path, as well as her service devoted to science and humanity, serves as an example for every citizen of Azerbaijan. Owing to her tireless work and high professionalism, important contributions were made to solving a number of complex medical problems of her time.
It was emphasized that the academician’s fundamental research in the field of ophthalmology is of great importance not only for Azerbaijan, but also for world medical science as a whole.
It was also highlighted that Zarifa Aliyeva remains in memory as a rare personality who embodied such noble qualities of Azerbaijani women as kindness, compassion, simplicity, diligence, and high intellect.
