
At the Institute of Geography of the Republic of Azerbaijan (public legal entity) under the Ministry of Science and Education, an awareness-raising event was held on the occasion of the “World Day for Safety and Health at Work” under the theme “Let’s ensure the creation of a healthy psychosocial working environment!”. The main purpose of the event was to promote the formation of a healthy psychological atmosphere in the workplace, encourage effective communication among employees, protect psychosocial well-being, and strengthen mutual support mechanisms.
The event was opened by the acting Director of the Institute of Geography, Doctor of Geographical Sciences, Associate Professor Zaur Imrani, who noted that a healthy and safe working environment is an essential condition for the development of any organization. He emphasized that an atmosphere based on mutual respect, cooperation, and psychological comfort contributes to increased productivity and stronger team spirit.
Then the Head of the Administrative Department of the Institute, Hamdulla Aliyev, spoke, noting that International Workers’ Day is not only a historical date but also a symbol of labor rights, social justice, and solidarity among working people. He stated that in Azerbaijan, the regulation of labor relations on a legislative basis serves to protect workers’ rights and ensure decent working conditions. He also added that the institute places special emphasis on building a healthy working environment based on transparency, responsibility, and professionalism.
During the awareness session, the Chair of the Public Union for Psychological and Social Support, Ulviyya Murtuzova, spoke about the scientific foundations of a psychosocial working environment. She shared practical recommendations on managing workplace tension, reducing stress, and preventing professional burnout. She emphasized that empathy and mutual respect within a team have a direct impact on work productivity.
At the end of the event, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Araz Aliyev spoke about the impact of psychological stress in the workplace on the human body and the medical aspects of employee relations. He noted that a negative emotional environment at work can lead to chronic fatigue and other psychosomatic illnesses. In this regard, the establishment of sincere, honest, and supportive relationships among employees is one of the key factors for both individual and organizational success.
