On April 23, 2026, the International Caspian Scientific and Technological Session was held in an online format. During the session, specialized scientists delivered presentations focused on the ecological state of the Caspian Sea water area, existing challenges, and potential solutions.

Representing Azerbaijan, Associate Professor Zaur Imrani (DSc in Geography), Acting Director of the Institute of Geography, and Saida Zeynalova (PhD in Geography), Scientific Secretary of the Institute, presented a report titled "Ecological Condition of the Caspian Sea’s Azerbaijani Sector Coasts and National Parks."

During the session, it was emphasized that contemporary fluctuations in the level of the Caspian Sea significantly impact the dynamics of coastal landscapes and the stability of ecosystems. In this regard, expanding comprehensive monitoring activities in coastal zones and implementing science-based management mechanisms are of particular importance.

Furthermore, it was highlighted that national parks play a crucial role in preserving biodiversity and maintaining vulnerable natural complexes. The development of adaptation strategies in the face of climate change and the strengthening of scientific cooperation among regional countries were identified as key priorities for ensuring sustainable development within the Caspian basin.
