The head of the Department of political and economic geography of Azerbaijan Doctor of Economics Nariman Pashayev gave a speech on the topic “Prospects for the development of a green economy in Azerbaijan” at a scientific seminar of the Institute of Geography of the AR MSE.  

The report provided extensive information about the term “green economy”, stages of development of the transition to a “green economy” in Azerbaijan, the economic potential of renewable energy sources, solar and wind power plants, hydroelectric power stations operating in the republic, etc.

The head of the department said that the development of the “Green Economy” in the Republic of Azerbaijan is one of the strategic goals of the state’s socio-economic policy. The transformation of Karabakh and Eastern Zangezur into a “green energy zone”, the work of industrial and agricultural parks based on the principles of environmentally friendly production, as well as the processing expansion serves the sustainable development of the country. The measures implemented in this direction strengthen the image of Azerbaijan as an environmentally responsible state on an international scale and create the basis for ensuring social well-being, economic growth and environmental balance in the coming decades.
