Staff members of the Geomorphology and Natural Hazards Department of the Institute of Geography named after acad. H. Aliyev of the AR MSE conducted landslide monitoring in the village of Garachukhur in the Surakhani District of Baku under the supervision of Department Head, DSc. in geography Stara Tarikhazar.
According to experts, the main factors causing landslides in this area are slope shear and uneven water and wastewater at the top of the slope. The second landslide site is located southeast of the Yeni Guneshli residential area, on the side of the Zykh-Govsan road. The landslides are caused by human activity, namely the discharge of domestic and sewage water. Numerous cracks and collapses were found in the walls and fences of some residential buildings.
