Foreign students visited the areas of Azerbaijan 2025-10-14 17:24:00 / IMPORTANT EVENTS

Students from the Justus-Liebig University of Giessen (Germany) which arrived in Azerbaijan for a month-long internship at the Institute of Geography, visited the Absheron Mud Volcanoes State Nature Reserve and the Gobustan National Historical and Artistic Reserve.

The visit, which took place in the company of  PhD Beyimkhanum Huseynova, a research fellow at the Department of Demography and Geography of the Population at the Institute of Geography named after acad.H. Aliyev of the MSE, was organized in accordance with a memorandum of cooperation concluded between the two scientific institutions.

They visited Azerbaijan's largest volcano, the Toragay mud volcano, as well as the active smaller mud volcanoes located within the reserve, and collected detailed information about their history, composition, and use for therapeutic tourism.

As part of the internship program, students visited the Tufandag winter and summer tourist recreation complex, the Seven Beauties waterfall, the village of Durja, the village of Vandam, the Juma Mosque, the Gabala Museum of History and Local Lore, and other places in the Gabala region.

The next day, the students visited the Khan's Palace, the Juma Mosque, the Lower and Upper Caravanserai, the Kish Alban Temple, and other sites in the Sheki region.

The final day of the trip concluded with an excursion to the Ismailli State Nature Reserve, located in Ismailli and partly in the Gabala region.

The foreign students collected and systematized a wealth of material about the sites they visited.
