Employees of the Institute of Geography named after academician H. Aliyev of the AR MSE– senior research fellow of the department of history of geographical thought and toponymy, PhD Natig Babayev and junior research fellow of the department of geoinformatics and cartography Nazim Gerayly conducted research work on the territory of the Aghdam region.

The work was carried out within the framework of the study of toponyms of the "East Zangezur economic region (based on the materials of the Jebrail, Gubadli, Zangelan, Kelbajar and Lachin regions)". The employees of the institute carried out significant work on field observations and collection of primary data in the territory of the Aghdam region in terms of studying toponyms, their historical and geographical origin and restoration.

Shakir Mamedov, head of the YouTube channel "Archive TV - Karabakh", who accompanied the researchers during the visit, observed the progress of scientific activities and filmed what was happening. These materials were subsequently presented to the public on this channel. Such scientific trips are of great importance for the restoration of historical toponyms in the liberated territories, their systematization and transmission to future generations.
