Leading researcher of the Department of Demography and Geography of the Population of the Institute of Geography named after Academician H. Aliyev of the MSEAR, PhD Rovshan Kerimov has been a guest of the program "Let's not put it off until tomorrow" on Public Television.

In the program dedicated to changes in the age structure of the population of Azerbaijan and the process of demographic aging, R. Kerimov noted that the process of demographic aging, that is, the decrease in the share of people of younger age groups in the population structure and the decrease in the proportion of elderly people, is a process observed on a global scale and is influenced by various economic, socio-cultural and demographic processes. A similar trend is observed among the population of Azerbaijan.Karimov emphasized that, on the one hand, the proportion of the elderly population in the country is increasing due to the increase in life expectancy, and on the other hand, the proportion of children and adolescents is decreasing due to the decrease in the birth rate. According to him, in order to prevent the acceleration of these processes in the future, it is necessary to provide for the payment of benefits to young families for the birth of child, as well as to improve the provision of housing on preferential terms for young families in urban areas.
