The Institute of Geography celebrated May 28 - Independence Day 2025-05-26 17:45:00 / IMPORTANT EVENTS

An event dedicated to "28 May - Independence Day" was held at the Institute of Geography named after Academician H.Aliyev of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

At the beginning of the event, those present paid tribute to the memory of the martyrs who gave their lives for the integrity of their homeland.

The meeting was opened by the chairman of the trade union organization of the institute Kamran Ramazanli, who noted that the event was dedicated to the 107th anniversary of the Republic of Azerbaijan - the first democratic republic in the East. He said that the Azerbaijani people are proud of the date of May 28. This holiday has been celebrated in the liberated territories for the fifth year. The second date that we celebrate with great pride is the day of liberation of our lands from occupation. As a result of the determination and principled position of the victorious Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev, our heroic army was able to restore the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, and this year, on November 8, we will all celebrate the 5th anniversary of this glorious victory.

Then, the invited historian, Professor Nasib Nasibli, author of 11 books and more than 100 scientific articles, Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Iran in 1992-1994, member of the Milli Majlis in 2005-2010, made a report on the activities and fall of the Republic of Azerbaijan - the first democratic republic in the Muslim East. In his speech, the professor touched upon such issues as the national awakening movement in Azerbaijan, issues of nationalization, the period of rise, the state and nation in Soviet times, political dedication, and also explained the reasons for the collapse of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic.

At the end of his report, N. Nasibli answered numerous questions from the participants.
