A group of employees of the Institute of Geography visited Jalilabad and Lankaran regions in connection with the announcement of 2025 as the "Year of Constitution and Sovereignty" in the Republic of Azerbaijan, as well as the 80th anniversary of the Institute of Geography named after Academician Hasan Aliyev of the Ministry of Education.

In his opening speech at the event, Acting Director General of the Institute of Geography, PhD, Associate Professor Zaur Imrani, spoke about the types of integration of science and education, their prospects, attracting young people to doctoral studies, and also clarified the issues.

On May 19, 2025, reports were made at an event entitled “Improving the Quality of Science and Education in the Regions,” at the Jalilabad branch of the Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University: PhD in agricultural sciences Chingiz Gyulaliyev "Land resources of Jalilabad district and possibilities of their use", PhD in geography, Associate Prof. Saida Zeynalova "Geoecological potential of Jalilabad and Lankaran districts in the context of regional planning of the southern region", Associate Prof., PhD in agricultural sciences Ismayil Guliyev with a report on the topic "Current state and assessment of the land cover of Jalilabad district against the background of global desertification".PhD in geography, Associate Prof. Etibar Badalov spoke on the topic "Features of the demographic development of the urban population of the Lankaran-Astara economic region", PhD Natig Babayev spoke on the topic "Nominative classification of oronyms of Eastern Zangezur", and senior lecturer of the Jalilabad branch Alesker Mirzazade made a report on the topic "Jalilabad - the land of ancient monuments".

On May 20, 2025, a meeting was held with the rector of Lankaran State University, Professor Natig Ibrahimov at Lankaran State University, at an event entitled "Integration of Science and Education in the Regions". Then, the vice-rector for science and innovation of the university Elvin Aliyev greeted the participants of the event and gave the floor to the speakers.

The following employees of the Institute of Geography made presentations: PhD, Associate Professor Museyib Yunusov on the topic “Problems of integrating education and training in our republic”, PhD, Associate Professor Solmaz Rzayeva, “Study of factors influencing the health of the population from a medical and geographical point of view in the Lankaran-Astara economic region”, PhD, Associate Professor Nijat Imamverdiyev "Transformation of green energy in Azerbaijan: current status and development prospects", junior researcher Nazim Gerayli "Artificial intelligence and GIS: new integration opportunities", Afag Gasimova, associate professor of Lankaran State University, on the topic "Genius Heydar Aliyev - the founder of the Constitution of the Republic of Azerbaijan", associate professor Sanan Azizov "Assessment of the current demographic situation in the Lankaran-Astara economic region", and associate professor Gorkhmaz Aghayev "Possibilities and future prospects for the use of renewable energy sources in the Lankaran natural region (on the example of geothermal sources)".

At the end of the event, mutual discussions took place and questions were answered regarding regional science and education.
