Aida Aslanova, employee of the Institute of Geography named after Acad. H. Aliyev MSE AR, patrol of the Azerbaijani-language Wikipedia, took part in the international conference “Wikimania Katowice - 2024”, held in Poland.

The event, which took place at the Katowice International Centre in Katowice, was attended by 1,200 Wikipedia programmers, users and trainers from 143 countries.

The conference featured a series of workshops, presentations, and discussion panels. Users learned about changes to the MediaWiki software, new analysis features, learned how to work with the Wikimedia Foundation's new Codex design system, and learned how to work with the new platform launched for the Wikimedia cover design system.

During the conference, A. Aslanova joined the discussion of issues of implementing new projects and enriching national content, and shared her experience with other participants. During the event, the IG employee had the opportunity to meet Jimmy Wales, the creator of Wikipedia, and presented him with a souvenir depicting a map of Azerbaijan and the culture of our country.
