Director General of the Institute of Geography named after academician H. Aliyev of the MSE AR, Professor Zakir Eminov, took part in the International Forum “Solidarity for a Green World: From Waste to Value for a Sustainable Future”, held in Baku.
Officials from the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, representatives of the UN and various international organizations, including a number of foreign countries, took part in the two-day forum.
In panel sessions “Sustainable waste management policies and implementation of sustainable development goals”, “Economic opportunities for the transition from waste to value”, “Sustainable waste management as a solution to climate change”, “Towards the goal” “Zero waste: solving the problem of waste pollution through innovation, policy and public education”, “Innovation in waste management”, “Involving the population and youth in sustainable waste management practices”.
At the end of the event, an award ceremony took place for the winners of the “From Waste to Value” drawing competition. In addition, the Baku Zero Waste Challenge aims to promote sustainable waste management practices, innovative packaging solutions, and recycling and waste reduction strategies by participating organizations.
