A memorandum of cooperation has been signed between the Institute of Geography of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Western Caspian University with the aim of strengthening the integration of science and education, implementing joint scientific initiatives, and developing academic partnerships.
The meeting held in connection with the signing of the memorandum was attended by Zaur Imrani, Director of the Institute of Geography, Doctor of Geographical Sciences, Associate Professor; Museyib Yunusov, Head of the Scientific Personnel Training Sector; and Sarkhan Jafarov, Head of the Strategic Development, Monitoring and Evaluation Sector.
During the meeting, the importance of expanding cooperation between research institutions and higher education establishments was emphasized. The participants exchanged views on current challenges facing modern science, the training of highly qualified specialists, the application of innovative teaching methods, and the integration of scientific findings into the educational process.
The signed memorandum envisages broad scientific and academic cooperation between the two institutions. Within the framework of the partnership, the development and implementation of joint research projects in geography, ecology, climate change, environmental protection, sustainable management of natural resources, sustainable development, and other relevant fields are planned.
One of the key areas of cooperation will be the organization of master classes, open lectures, scientific and practical seminars, and training sessions at Western Caspian University by scientists and specialists from the Institute of Geography. These activities will create new opportunities to share the Institute's extensive scientific expertise with students and young researchers and familiarize them with modern geographical research methods, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), remote sensing technologies, and innovative scientific approaches.
In addition, the two institutions plan to organize joint national and international scientific conferences, symposia, scientific forums, round-table discussions, and thematic seminars; prepare scientific publications; conduct joint research; and expand opportunities for participation in international scientific projects.
Particular importance will be attached to involving students in research activities, familiarizing them with the work of the Institute of Geography's laboratories and structural divisions, enhancing their research experience and practical knowledge, and supporting the research activities of master's and doctoral students. The cooperation will also promote the participation of young scientists and researchers in joint scientific projects, the development of their research potential, and the provision of scientific and methodological support for their work.
At the same time, the institutions intend to strengthen their collaboration in promoting scientific innovation, applying modern digital technologies in geographical research, participating jointly in international grant programmes, and expanding opportunities for the practical application of scientific findings.
The memorandum signed between the Institute of Geography and Western Caspian University will not only strengthen cooperation between the two institutions but also create broad opportunities for combining scientific expertise, integrating theoretical knowledge with practical experience, training young specialists, and implementing new initiatives that contribute to the development of geographical science in Azerbaijan.
This partnership is expected to make a significant contribution to future joint scientific achievements, innovative projects, and the establishment of sustainable academic relations.
