ÇOMÜ Academics Appointed as International Members of the Institute of Geography of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan 2026-08-07 15:00:00 / IMPORTANT EVENTS

Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University (ÇOMÜ) continues its efforts to expand international scientific cooperation. Within the framework of cooperation with the Institute of Geography of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Prof. Dr. Vedat Çalışkan, Prof. Dr. Selver Özözen Kahraman, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Faize Sarış, faculty members of the Department of Geography at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University, have been appointed as international members of the Institute of Geography of Azerbaijan.

The membership aims to strengthen scientific cooperation between the two institutions in the field of geography, conduct joint scientific research, develop international projects, and expand the exchange of scientific knowledge.
Rector of Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University, Prof. Dr. Ramazan Cüneyt Erenoğlu, stated that the appointment represents one of the reflections in the scientific field of the long-standing friendship and brotherly relations between Türkiye and Azerbaijan.
The Rector said: “The important responsibilities undertaken by our academics at the international level will contribute to strengthening our university’s scientific capacity and international visibility. I believe that scientific cooperation between Türkiye and Azerbaijan will develop further, and I congratulate our professors.”
Director of the Institute of Geography of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Doctor of Geographical Sciences, Associate Professor Zaur Imrani, expressed his satisfaction with the inclusion of ÇOMÜ academics among the international members of the Institute. He stated that this cooperation would make a significant contribution to the development of joint scientific research and further strengthening scientific relations between the two brotherly countries.
The activities to be carried out by ÇOMÜ faculty members within the Institute of Geography are expected to contribute to expanding joint research in the field of geography, developing international scientific publications, and strengthening sustainable scientific cooperation between the two countries.
Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University continues its efforts to strengthen international academic cooperation, support scientific knowledge production, and foster a culture of joint research with the Turkic world.
