Leading researcher of the Institute of Geography named after Academician H.Aliyev of theAR MSE, PhD in Geography Rovshan Kerimov represented the Institute of Geography at the event "Baku Water Week", held in the Baku Expo Center from September 10 to 12.
At the 2nd International Exhibition and Conference "Water Resources Management", organized with the support of the State Agency of Water Resources of Azerbaijan, the geographer made a report on "Climate Change, Water Scarcity and Population Migration", drawing attention to the increase in population migration in various regions of the world in recent years due to drought and water shortages.
Kerimov highlighted the consequences of the resettlement of people from areas experiencing water shortages, the demographic, social and gender aspects of this process, and also spoke about the migration of the population experiencing difficulties with irrigation and drinking water supply to other regions using the example of the Guba and Neftchala regions. He also informed the participants of the event about the results of his research and statistical analysis on migration issues in these regions and answered their questions on the topic.
