An event dedicated to the 102nd anniversary of the great leader Heydar Aliyev was held at the Institute of Geography named after Academician H.Aliyev of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

The event was attended by the Chairman of the Trade Union Committee of Scientific Organizations of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Professor Habil Gurbanov and the Head of the Department of "Theory of Knowledge and Logic" of the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology of the National Academy of Sciences of the Russian Academy of Sciences Fizuli Gurbanov.

The Director General of the Institute, PhD, Associate Professor Zaur Imrani welcomed the participants of the event and noted that our people, who carefully preserve the memory of Heydar Aliyev, celebrate the 102nd anniversary of the Great Leader's birthday at a high level throughout the country. Emphasizing the invaluable contribution of Heydar Aliyev to state building, Z.Imrani noted that the basis of modern Azerbaijani statehood is his far-sighted policy, principled position and strong will. The work done by the leader of the nation in the areas of forming a state based on the rule of law, ensuring national security, conducting economic reforms, and strengthening international relations is invaluable. The strategic path of development he outlined continues successfully today, and the political stability, economic strength, and international reputation of Azerbaijan are a continuation of this legacy. It was noted that Heydar Aliyev defined the creation of a strong, stable, and legal state as the main priority of national development. In addition to protecting the independence and national interests of Azerbaijan, he did important work to create and strengthen state institutions, revive the economy, and enhance Azerbaijan's authority in the international community. The Constitution adopted under the leadership of Heydar Aliyev and the legal and institutional reforms carried out laid the foundation for an independent state. His state-building policy remains the basis of the country's development strategy today. Speaking on the topic of "Heydar Aliyev and the New Leadership", D.Sc. in Philosophy Fizuli Gurbanov highlighted the issue of deportation of Azerbaijanis in the political legacy of Heydar Aliyev, emphasizing that the national leader's activities paid special attention to identifying historical injustice, protecting the rights of our compatriots, and preserving national memory. At the beginning of his speech, Professor Habil Gurbanov expressed satisfaction with his participation in the event held at the Institute of Geography, as he is a geographer. He noted that, as an excellent student, he had repeatedly communicated with the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev at various meetings, and this event left an indelible mark on his memory. This brilliant man, who dedicated his life to the well-being of his people, did everything possible to ensure the development, independence of Azerbaijan and its rightful place in the world. The head of the PC stated that under the leadership of the worthy successor of the Great Leader, President Ilham Aliyev, our lands have been liberated from occupation, great creative work is being carried out there, and our citizens are gradually returning to their native lands in accordance with the Great Return Plan.
Then, awards were given and diplomas were presented to the winners of the chess tournament dedicated to the 102nd anniversary of the birth of the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev, organized by the Trade Union Committee of the Institute: Shamil Azizov, Ziyafet Agayev, Natig Babayev and Saida Mursalova.
After the event, the employees of the Institute, with the participation of the leadership of the PC and the first territorial organization of the New Azerbaijan Party, visited the grave of the great leader Heydar Aliyev.
