An intra-institute sports tournament in chess, organized by the Trade Union Organization, kicked off at the Institute of Geography named after acad. H. Aliyev of the MSEAR on the occasion of the 102nd anniversary of the great leader Heydar Aliyev's birthday.

Opening the event with an introductory speech, the chairman of the trade union organization of the institute Kamran Ramazanli noted that in May our people will celebrate the 102nd anniversary of the birth of Heydar Aliyev, the founder of the modern independent Azerbaijani state: “We, as a trade union organization, dedicate a sports tournament to this glorious date, which we organize at our institute. The next sporting event will be dedicated to another glorious day – November 8, Victory Day. The amount allocated for sporting events in our budget will be divided by 2 and spent on awarding the winners during these events." The Chairman of the PC noted that the winners of the chess tournament, which will end on May 2, will be able to receive their prizes on May 8.

The event was attended by Director General Hamdulla Aliyev, Scientific Secretary PhD in geography Saida Zeynalova, PhD in geography, Associate Professor Ziyafet Agayev and others. Speaking, they emphasized the importance of holding such a sports competition among the employees of the institute and wished each participants success in the tournament.
