The article “Need for multi-purpose monitoring of water resources in the Republic of Azerbaijan”, written by the Head of the Caspian Sea Hydrometeorology Department Said Safarov together with Doctor of Geographical Sciences, Professor Ali Akbar Rasuli, was published in the Scopus indexed electronic journal “Reliability: Theory and Applications” (ISSN 1932-2321).

The article states that the reduction in precipitation due to climate change has long-term impacts on agriculture, infrastructure, environment and ecosystems in many ways. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct monitoring using GIS tools to find out where, when and to what extent modern water sources are lost and, in general, to assess the water resources of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
