An event dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the birth of the famous expert on the Caspian Sea, former director of the Institute of Geography, laureate of the State Prize of Academician Ramiz Mamedov was held at the Gardabani Education and Integration Center of Georgia.
Director of the Institute of Geography of Georgia Nana Bolashvili, who was present at the event, provided extensive information about the scientific activities of Ramiz Mamedov. She noted that although he devoted most of his academic life to the study of the Caspian Sea, the main areas of his research were also desertification, landscape planning, environmental protection, water resources assessment, etc. Under his leadership, the International Conference on Desertification was organized and held in Tbilisi in 2002.
Chairman of the Trade Union of the Institute of Geography named after Acad. H.Aliyev MSEAR Kamran Ramazanli made a speech and conveyed greetings from the Director General of the Institute, PhD Assoc. Prof. Zaur Imrani to the participants of the event and expressed gratitude to the organizers of the event. K. Ramazanli noted that although Academician Ramiz Mammadov is known as a scientist, he devoted most of his life to state affairs and played a special role in the development of Azerbaijani-Georgian relations.
