The book “Socio-demographic development and employment problems in the Republic of Azerbaijan” by Professor Zakir Eminov, the director of the Institute of Geography named after academician H.Aliyev of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, laureate of the State Prize in Science, has been published.
Modern problems of demographic development and employment of the population in the country, as well as ways to solve them, are widely covered in the mentioned large-scale scientific work. The work consists of 5 chapters and covers the following topics:« Theoretical and conceptual issues of the formation of demographic potential and labor resources”, “Directions of economic and geographical research of the social composition of the population and employment in Azerbaijan”, “Formation of the population and labor resources in Azerbaijan, directions of economic and geographical research of the influence of natural growth on this process”, “The role of migration in changing the number and composition of labor resources in Azerbaijan” and “Research of socio-geographical problems of demographic development in Azerbaijan and regional features of employment”.
Birth rate, mortality, migration and social composition of the population, which determine the demographic situation in the country, are constantly changing under the influence of political-economic and socio-geographical processes. Therefore, in order to regulate the demographic situation, determine the directions of sustainable socio-economic development of the country, it is necessary to constantly study the population, take continuous measures to solve the above problems, and also carry out our research work.
The increase in the number of labor resources, age and gender composition, specialty and level of employment, participation in the process of natural increase also depends on the demographic indicators of children and pensioners. The work uses extensive literature in Azerbaijani, Turkish, Russian and English, as well as maps, diagrams and numerous tables. The abundance of statistical data in these tables is the result of the effort and attention that the work requires. When writing the work, statistical collection, laws, state programs, codes, scientific literature were used. The monograph provides a number of valuable proposals and recommendations on the direction of solving socio-demographic problems in the country.
The book is intended for bachelors and masters students studying economics, demography and geography, as well as teachers, scientists and specialists working in this field, as well as a wide readership.
