According to the memorandum concluded between the Institute of Geography named after H. Aliyev, students of the German Justus-Liebigs University in Giessen Florian Behrens and Gulay Goktas visited the Institute of Geography. The project "Geopark Management in the South Caucasus" was successfully implemented with the support of the DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) foundation.

The executive director of the institute, PhD, associate professor Zaur Imrani and junior research fellow of the department of demography and population geography Beimkhanim Huseynova provided extensive information about the latest and most recent scientific works, and introduced them to new publications.

For two weeks, students will be engaged in research work at the Institute of Geography and will also visit areas with high potential for the creation of geoparks and geotourism opportunities in Azerbaijan. As part of the tourism program, it is planned to send students to Samur-Yalam and Hirkan National Parks, Gobustan State Historical and Artistic Reserve, Altyaghach State Nature Reserve and other areas.

In the final stage of the research, students will prepare a report on the organization of geoparks in areas favorable for their creation and other issues, and will also create a database on the received information.
