Taking into account Azerbaijan’s hosting of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), the Institute of Geography held the III International Scientific-Practical Conference on “Contemporary Problems of Geography: Integration of Science and Education” on October 29-30, 2024.

The challenges of assessing, using, and protecting climate and water resources; the current state of landscape use; efficient use of lands and their ecological problems; ecogeographical foundations of sustainable development of Azerbaijan, protection of soil and vegetation cover; young researchers’ views on socio-economic problems in the liberated territories; socio-economic development of regions, green energy potential and prospective directions; regional characteristics of demographic development, prospects of urban and rural settlement; assessment of tourism and recreation potential in ensuring sustainable development; problems of solving techniques and using the natural resource potential of regions; modern problems of teaching regional development in higher and secondary schools and other directions, and taking certain steps towards solving the problems were discussed in the conference.
